What a lesson looks like

Aquatic Foundations: 30 minutes, five swimmers to one instructor, in the lap pool, kept above 80 degrees.

How long it takes

From here the timeline lengthens. Solid stroke mechanics in strokes like freestyle and backstroke generally take 50 to 80 or more lessons overall, spread across the Independent Swimmer and Advanced milestones.

What earns the wristband

Dolphin is complete when a swimmer reads the clock, starts properly, holds freestyle and backstroke, shows breaststroke and dolphin kick, and handles touches, turns and dives.
